My First Tooth!!!

Okay, it has been a busy four days for Brianna! Not only has she learned to crawl, but she has decided she wants to stand up! She is determined that she is going to do it by herself, but naturally, she just falls (and mommy is just to afraid at this point to let her)!

And, as the heading says, she got her first tooth last night! We knew that they were close, so we put some Baby Orajel on her gums. Lucky us, becuase she didn't stir at all. Our nefew, Hudson, got his first four teeth in one night and from what we heard, he wasn't a happy camper until his mommy numbed his gums!

Sitting Up, Books, and Sounds

So, I also wanted to mention a few of the new things that Brianna has started doing over the past couple of weeks. She is now able to sit up all by herself and we will find her this way in her crib in the morning when she wakes up. We have had to raise the front bar on the crib due to this new ability. She is such a contented little girl, we will listen to her sit in her crib and play and coo for several minutes before she finally starts fussing for breakfast.

She is also using this new ability to move around the room. As I mentioned in a previous post, she isn't quite crawling yet, so instead she will tip forward onto her hands and knees, roll onto her side, scoot, and sit back up. She will repeat this process several times to get across a room. It is really amazing to watch, but she is also still trying so hard to crawl. When she gets onto her hands and knees, she will rock and sometimes slide or reach her hands forward, and even scoot a knee forward every once in a while, but she always seems to get caught up and ends up tipping onto her side where she rolls and pushes herself back into a sitting position.

She is also quite infatuated with books and seems to love picking them up and pulling at pages. Thankfully most of her books are made of the thicker cardboard or cloth so she can't tear them up. However, this does make story time quite interesting as she is always wanting to grab at the pages.

And lastly, her favorite word/sound right now is "BAH".

While playing or sitting in her car seat, it is very common for her to say, "bah-bah-bah... bah-bah-bah..." over and over again.

I just have to say that I am really loving being a dad and I thank God every day for the privilege and blessing that it is.

Once they arrived in Nashville, it was time to meet all the extended family!

Visiting the Arch

As November rolled in, Mommy and Brianna took a trip with Grandma and Poppy back to Nashville, TN. Along the way they stopped at the St. Louis Arch to stretch their legs and let Brianna experience this national monument.

She even got to touch the base of the arch!

And of course they stopped in at the museum underneath for some souvenirs.

The fall leaves made for a beautiful walk through the park to the arch.

Bumble-Bri

For Halloween we dressed Brianna up as a bumble bee. She was SOOO cute!

While we didn't get the chance to go out trick-or-treating, we did go visit both grandparents houses to show off the costume.

Pumpkin Carving

As Halloween approached, we finally carved the pumpkins that we got at the festival

After Rachael cleaned out the guts, I began working on the intricate cuts to make our jack-o-lantern

I think they turned out well, dont you! We just had to go for the old puking pumpkin :-)

Jungles and Baskets

Brianna is obviously sitting up rather well now and has lots of colorful and exciting toys. However, it seems that one of her favorite things to do, rather than play with the toys, is play with the basket that we keep them in.

One of the other new toys that she has is a great new jungle arch that Grandma Felix bought for her. It plays music and has lights, and is a great toy for her to crawl and climb on. She is really building those muscles and loves bouncing and scooting all over the living room. She hasn't quite got crawling down yet, but she tries so hard. She is so close to being able to crawl and gets up on her hands and knees rocking back and fourth and scooting backwards.

Grandma's Birthday Dinner

On October 20th we all went out to dinner at Texas Road House to celebrate Grandma Tomey's birthday.

A balloonist was also there and made Hannah and Brianna balloon animals.

Hannah got a balloon monkey climbing a palm tree with bananas.

Brianna was happy as usual and enjoyed eating her meal in a restaurant high-chair for the first time.

Hannah and Brianna really enjoyed spending time together as well. Hannah is always so sweet to Bri.

Pumpkin Festival

With October came some colder weather and the annual Pumpkin Patch Festival at the Chatfield Botanic Gardens. Mommy and Daddy dressed Brianna up in her pink fuzzy suit to keep her toasty warm. I don't know where this rated on the cuteness meter because I was afraid that it would break... completely off the chart!

Get ready to say "AWWWWW!"

Daddy carried Bri all through the pumpkin patch in search of the perfect Halloween pumpkin

It even rained a little that afternoon, the kind of rain that chills you to the bone. But little Bri stayed warm and happy the whole time in her fuzzy suit close to daddy. She was a little furnace the whole time and never once cried or complained.

Washington Park

Near the end of Jill's stay we all got together one last time to have a picnic and get some great family photos at Washington Park.

It was a beautiful day, as the photos show, and we had a great time enjoying the flower garden and spending time as a family.

Brianna even got to pick some flowers!

We even rented a 6 person bicycle car and peddled it around the lake with the kids riding in the front. Meredith and Brianna looked so cute wearing their little helmets :-)

6 Months!

During our "time off" from the blog Brianna also celebrated her 6 month birthday on September 30th!

We got her an ice cream cake for her "birthday" and Rachael gave her a first taste of ice cream on that day. And just like mommy, we are sure that she'll be hooked on this delightful frozen dessert.

Unfortunately, 6 months also brought the excessive drool of teething. Brianna has been doing well and a few teeth are definately on the way, but none have broken through at this time.

Yes, it says "Don't hassle me, I'm teething" :-)

Family Time

We spent a lot of time at my parents house sitting out on the new paved back porch enjoying stories and sharing each others kids. Below is Rachael holding Hudson, Laura holding Isaac, and Jill holding Meredith.

Paul spent most of his time playing in the sand box while his dad, Jason, spent time with his only niece.

Uncle Jason even helped Brianna "walk" around the living room

My Aunt Pat also came up from Florida for a few weeks to spend some time with the family.  She even cooked an awesome jumbo shrimp and crab dinner for all of us one night, her signature meal!  She loved seeing her great-niece and catching up with the rest of the family.

Jill, Isaac and Hudson

Isaac "hang'n out" at Grandma Felix's house

Rachael holding Brianna and Hudson. There is only a month and a half difference in age between them.

Hudson was quite the kicker. Here I am patting his feet while Jill, Isaac, and Brianna laugh and play.

Brianna enjoyed meeting her cousin who was so close in age to her. It was so fun seeing how they reacted to each other.

"Coming to America"

In September my sister-in-law Jill came back to the states to visit. Obviously this was an awesome time as we were finally able to meet little Hudson and spend some quality time with our other young nephew, Isaac, who we hadn't seen since he was Brianna's size!

It was great meeting them all at the airport. And even though it was past Brianna's bed time, she was happy to see her aunt and cousins in the main terminal at DIA.

Hudson is a BIG kid for his age, so it was quite a change holding him compared to our little Brianna, but it was SO wonderful to finally meet him. Unfortunately, Josh couldn't make it back for this visit, but we were looking forward to having fun and enjoying the time together.
